2006 Mamma Mia letter of appreciation

date: November 15, 2006

The Board of Directors of SEEDS (Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools) would like to thank the many individuals and groups who helped make our second annual Mamma Mia Cook-Off so memorable.

We greatly appreciate Ray Moore and the staff of Hutchinson, Moore and Rauch Engineering for their continuing hospitality and for the extensive logistical support provided by Miller’s Grand Event, Harmony Sound and Vision and the City of Daphne. State Rep. Randy Davis was, once again, a major contributor to the success of the event as a sponsor, leader of the outstanding Jubilee Orchestra and master of ceremonies for the ever-popular Mamma Mia live auction.

We are most grateful to our other event sponsors, as well, whose generosity and civic pride are helping to build Mamma Mia into a major fall tradition on the Eastern Shore. These include:

  • Oro (Gold-level) – Compound Care Pharmacy; First Gulf Bank; Grand Hotel Marriott Resort; Merrill-Lynch, D’Oliveira-Frick Group; Miller’s Grand Events; Performance Contractors, Inc.
  • Argento (Silver-level) – Baldwin County Medical Society; Buffalo-Rock Pepsi; Cornerstone Investment Management and Consulting; Davis & Fields Attorneys at Law; Harmony Sound and Vision; Hutchinson, Moore and Rauch Engineering; the Kiwanis Clubs of Daphne and Fairhope; The Olive Garden; Riviera Utilities; the Eastern Shore Sertoma Club; Sylvan Learning Center; Terry Thompson Chevrolet; Thomas Hospital; Will Hughes Catering and Market.
  • Bronzo (Bronze-level) – All-State Insurance, Craig Smith; AmSouth Bank; ARK Builders; Asphalt Services; Blackmon Insurance; Budweiser-Busch Distributing Co.; Christ the King Church; Lad Drago State Farm Insurance; Eastern Shore Medical Specialists; The Frame Corner; Highland Animal Hospital; The Judy Niemeyer Team; Moore & Wolfe Attorneys at Law; Dr. Gary Nelson & Medical Park Specialists; The Parlor; Starbuck’s Coffee Co; Stone, Granade and Crosby; Technical Specialties, and Wood Specialties.

The door prize items donated by several local businesses were also much appreciated. But the most important contributors to everyone’s enjoyment of the evening were certainly the 17 colorful, creative cooking teams that vied for top honors and delighted our guests with their culinary skills. They are the heart of Mamma Mia, and we extend a heartfelt invitation for their return next year.

Finally, the dedicated members of our 2006 planning committee were tireless in their efforts to make this year’s event bigger and better in every way. In particular, co-chairwomen Lori Menefee and Helen Trione Callaway were instrumental in ensuring our success.

We are so pleased so many came out to support the Daphne schools and SEEDS’ ongoing commitment to bringing our community together to create a greater vision and value for education.
