The Board of Directors of SEEDS (Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne's Schools) would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the 2007 SEEDS' Classic Rock 5K and Fun Run held on Saturday, March 3.
We were very pleased to welcome the nearly 300 local runners who took part in our scenic 5K run, and Olde Daphne literally rocked as our 800 Fun Run pacers hit the street. Many thanks to Peggy Olive and Little Red Hen Productions for their continued guidance and expertise in helping us to build this event within the local running community.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the four firms who signed on as Major Sponsors of the SEEDS Classic Rock Race this year: Citrin Law Firm; First Gulf Bank; Merrill-Lynch, D'Oliveira-Frick Group; and Terry Thompson Chevrolet. With their generous support, SEEDS will be able to increase significantly our investment in classroom enrichment initiatives for 2007-08.
The active involvement of our Daphne principals, teachers and parent organization leaders is another key component in the success of the Classic Rock event. Their commitment to promoting the race and entertaining our young guests at a lively Post-Race Celebration each year has established a great new springtime tradition for Daphne families and for runners throughout the area.
In addition, many local companies, organizations and agencies contributed to the excitement and effectiveness of the day. In particular, we wish to thank Point Clear Insurance Services; ARK Builders; Daphne United Methodist Church; the Bay Area Runners; Buffalo Rock Pepsi; Bay Sound; Abita Springs; Daphne Massage Center; Bounds Family YMCA; Sports N' More; Will Hughes Market and Catering; Dixie Service Cleaners; the Daphne High Varsity Athletics Department; the Daphne Middle School National Junior Honor Society, Art Club and Cheerleaders; SEATSBK; Med-Star; the Daphne Police and Public Works Departments; and especially Robyn Andrews and David McKelroy of the Daphne Recreation Department.
We even welcomed the involvement of the national Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year whose president , Terry Stewart, is a Daphne native who generously provided the museum gift items that were awarded to the 2007 Classic Rock top runners.
Finally, congratulations and many thanks are extended to the members of SEEDS' 2007 Race Committee. Their hard work and enthusiasm resulted in a memorable morning for everyone involved.
We invite everyone to mark their calendars and plan now to join us on Saturday, March 1, 2008 for the next great SEEDS Classic Rock 5K and Fun Run.
