Developing the analytical and transferable skills students will need to compete successfully in the 21st century job market is the focus of this year’s Classroom Enrichment Grant Program sponsored by Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools.
The SEEDS board of directors recently presented a total of $47,500 in classroom grants to teachers and principals in the five Daphne public schools and at Christ the King School, thereby fulfilling every request received this year. The funds will be used to enhance technology and expand 21st century learning opportunities – two of the priority areas identified by last year’s Yes We Can Community Conversations, eighteen of which were held in Daphne.
In addition to individual teacher and team grants, each school receives a minimum $2500 block grant to support campus-wide improvements. Community service contributions from State Rep. Randy Davis, State Rep. Joe Faust, State Sen. Marc Keahey and State Sen. Trip Pittman support SEEDS’ block grant initiative.
Winners of the 2012 Classroom Enrichment Grants include (Daphne Elementary School) Jan Palmer, Ginger Miller, Melissa Spriggs; (WJ Carroll Intermediate School) Dana Horst, Kathy Smith, Laura Hague, Frances Alexander, Stephanie Carroll; (Christ the King Catholic School) Max Crain, Rose Mary Mitchell, Barbara Hutson; (Daphne East Elementary School) Becky Lundberg, Tanya Seibert, Tina Tuveson; (Daphne Middle School) Tripp Oliphant, Sandi Peak, Stephanie Ellis, Tiffany Holt, Lisa Madison, Regina Boone, Claire Waites, Amanda Blake, Michele Benefield; (Daphne High) Dr. Meredith Foster, Tracie Brown, Priscilla Dabney, Margie Crawford.
