Our schools

SEEDS believes that by working together to enrich educational opportunities for children in every Daphne school – both public, private and Catholic – we not only strengthen our community today but we unite for a more prosperous future, as well.

  • Since 1950 Christ the King Catholic School has provided to Eastern Shore students a unique educational opportunity that focuses on faith, values and excellence. Located on Main Street in beautiful Olde Daphne, Christ the King Catholic School has opened a number of new learning laboratories over the past two years including reading, science, music and technology. CTKCS students practice community outreach and service as an integral part of campus life, and they have recently ranked among the area’s top middle school chess and Scholars’ Bowl teams.

  • Located at 1000 Main Street, the campus of W. J. Carroll Intermediate School has provided a community school setting since the late 1800’s. The school currently serves public school students in grades 4-5, but a comprehensive new facility – estimated at $13 million – is now under construction that, upon completion, will return local sixth graders to an intermediate school environment. W. J. Carroll Intermediate School students enjoy participating in the Reading Renaissance initiative of the Accelerated Reader Program as well as the Soliloquy reading fluency technology system.

  • Established in 2004, Daphne East Elementary, located just south of Daphne Middle School on County Road #13, has recently been recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education for overall performance on student achievement tests and by the Baldwin County Board of Education for best elementary school attendance. Daphne East’s instructional program emphasizes the Alabama Reading Initiative, and the campus serves as a Talents Unlimited Demonstration Site. Though Phase I of the school system’s Comprehensive Building Plan provides for an additional classroom wing to be constructed soon at Daphne East Elementary, a pilot growth study has recently been undertaken to determine the best way to utilize these funds and to plan for continuing development in the east Daphne area.

  • Constructed in 1939, the historic campus of Daphne Elementary School serves public school students in grades K-3. The Alabama Reading Initiative and Discipline-Based Arts Education are two of the school’s current major initiatives. Slated for construction of a new cafeteria and gymnasium beginning in the summer of 2007 – as well as major renovations to the main building, library and auditorium – Daphne Elementary School will benefit from approximately $4 million in facility improvements through 2008.

  • Daphne Middle School, located on the corner of County Road 13 and Whispering Pines Road, serves public school students in grades 6-8. Built in 1993, the facility includes a natural wetland on campus that enhances the beauty of the school setting. High expectations and an emphasis on respect, reliability and responsibility are hallmarks of the academic program at DMS. Numerous interest and service club opportunities – as well as a broad sports program – are offered.

  • Established in 1989, Daphne High School is a comprehensive 6A public high school that currently serves approximately 1300 students in grades 9-12. The DHS fine arts and athletic programs are large, diverse and have been recognized at the state, regional and national levels on numerous occasions during the school’s eighteen-year history. A wide range of core and elective courses are offered including seven Advanced Placement classes. In addition, the school has recently undertaken the application process to be considered for the International Baccalaureate Programme.
